Joe joined Place Foundry in 2022 as Managing Principal for Place Foundry Design LLC, bringing over 23 years of architectural experience and certifications across Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Alabama. His diverse project portfolio spans adaptive reuse, education, historic preservation, industrial, professional office, residential, and retail/commercial work—a breadth that gives Place Foundry the perspective needed to deliver unique, turn-key design solutions.
Joe's journey to architecture began with a childhood love of drawing and creating elaborate "dream houses" complete with bowling alleys inside. That early imagination has evolved into a career focused on exploring solutions and ideas as a team, which is what energizes him most about the work. Recently, he's particularly proud of his role in Think Big!—a collaborative process between the City, tenant, and builder that exemplifies his approach to bringing stakeholders together around shared vision.
Proficient in AutoCAD, REVIT, and Adobe Suite, Joe combines technical expertise with what he considers his greatest strength: understanding and listening to other perspectives. This skill extends beyond architecture into his personal interests, where he loves hearing other creatives—whether musicians, graphic designers, or chefs—talk about their process, stories, and inspiration behind their work.
Joe's philosophy is shaped by powerful advice that guides both his professional and personal approach: "Tomorrow still comes with or without you, so make an impact." At Place Foundry, he channels this mindset into creating spaces that don't just shelter activities, but actively improve how people and businesses operate within them.
