"I love that moment when a design clicks—when we capture the essence of a place, or someone say 'oh, now I get it'.”

Michelle Sidney

Visual Brand Director

Planning & Development Studio

As Visual Brand Director for Place Foundry, Michelle leads the development of branding & design that bring the firm's work to life. Whether developing engagement materials for a comprehensive plan or crafting a corridor's visual identity, Michelle creates the bridge between planning expertise and authentic community connection.

Michelle's path to this work began with film photography that opened up the world of graphic design. That early attraction to visual storytelling has evolved into expertise spanning the Adobe Creative Suite, web and print design, social media strategy, infographic development, and place branding. She's particularly proud of her recent work on the Danville Comprehensive Plan.

She generates ideas freely—some work, some don't, but this creative risk-taking pushes past the typical and opens new possibilities. Her approach is guided by simple but powerful advice: stay curious. That curiosity extends beyond her desk into the outdoors. Whether walking, running, or tending her garden, Michelle finds inspiration outside—a fitting parallel to her work creating welcoming visual identities for the places and communities Place Foundry serves.

And if she could have any superpower? Despite a fear of heights, Michelle would choose to fly.
